POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

Esophageal Tracheal Airway Device Authorized Service ProviderI. Authority and Reference (incorporated herein by references)
A. Division 2.5 of the Health and Safety Code.
B. California Code of Regulations, Title 22.
C. North Coast Emergency Medical Services Policies and Procedures.
II. Purpose
To establish the procedure for all North Coast EMS Esophageal Tracheal Airway Device (ETAD) Service Providers to obtain and maintain ETAD service provider approval.
III. Procedure
A. Any public safety agency may be request authorization by North Coast EMS to provide ETAD services within the North Coast EMS region.
B. Authorization to provide ETAD services within the North Coast EMS region is contingent upon executing and maintaining a participation agreement with North Coast EMS, which includes abiding by all related North Coast EMS policies and procedures.
C. Only North Coast EMS approved ETAD service providers may provide ETAD services. Those services may be performed only by North Coast EMS accredited EMT-C providers.
D. All ETADs used within the North Coast EMS region must be approved by North Coast EMS prior to utilization.
E. After each ETAD utilization, the ETAD service providers must mail or deliver the North Coast EMS ETAD report directly to North Coast EMS within five (5) days, with any other documentation requested from North Coast EMS.

AGENCY IS NOT ALLOWED TO FUNCTION AS AN ESOPHAGEAL TRACHEAL AIRWAY DEVICE
SERVICE PROVIDER IN THE NORTH COAST EMS REGION UNLESS THAT AGENCY HAS BEEN
APPROVED. FUNCTIONING WITHOUT A
CURRENT AND VALID PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT WITH NORTH COAST EMS IS A VIOLATION OF
CALIFORNIA LAWS.
